About
Things are broken and everyone knows it, but very few people with power truly understand why. I've spent my life fighting for the little guy (with some success) and have slowly gained access to the halls of political power in this country with the mission of making America better for working families. As someone more comfortable at neighborhood dive bars than political fundraisers, it's a minor miracle that I've been able to exist with one foot in the circles of DC and one foot in my Midwestern middle class community. But because I have, I've been able to clearly see the disconnect between an entire nation of people affected by deepening wealth inequality and a power center which is unable to address it.
I’ve devoted my life to taking on the country's biggest problems with bold ideas that can garner the broad-based support they need to become a reality. The work I lead always align with a few core values – big tent inclusivity, economic change for the benefit of everyday people, and high-impact potential.

It's clear to me that what is needed now is not endless new ideas - there are many laws we know would dramatically improve peoples' lives if we had the political will to pass them. It's a unified America ready to stand up and fight for a government that puts their needs first.

I currently live in Chicago and support efforts to improve incomes for working people in urban, suburban, and rural communities across the country. I also write and speak about inequality and how challenging conventional wisdom is key to not only to creating effective solutions but also to overcoming division in order to build the coalitions needed to implement them.
